Student life can be expensive and transport expenses can take a big chunk out of your monthly budget. This article gives you a few tips on where to get the latest student discounts to make those journeys around Manchester a bit cheaper.

 

Free Metroshuttle

Metroshuttle buses run from Piccadilly, Salford Central, Victoria, Oxford Road and Deansgate rail stations. There are three circular routes covering the main areas in the city centre. To see the full routes - Click here

 


Student Bus Discounts

OUR TOP PICK : Stagecoach

Unirider is a student only bus ticket valid on all Stagecoach and Magic Bus services in Greater Manchester. Once you buy your ticket, it's yours and no-one else's. It must be accompanied by your student ID with your photo on it. You can use it between the two dates printed on the ticket by showing it to the driver with your student card. As Stagecoach covers such much of Manchester, we think the Unirider is extremly good value for money.

 

Fingland

They operate services on routes 41, 42 & 48 - These go to the Universities from Sale, Northenden, East & West Didsbury, Didsbury, Withington, Owens Park, Rusholme and Manchester Piccadilly.They are good value for money and offer weekly tickets from £6.50.

Arriva - 

The Arriva North West Student Saver saves you more than 30% compared to normal fares and gives you unlimted travel on Arriva buses including evenings and weekends.

National Express

The Young Persons Coachcard is cheaper than a railcard and has no off-peak restrictions, which means you can travel anytime. Plus it's easy to buy and you don't even have to send them a photo! As long as you're aged between 16 and 26, or a full time student you are eligible. For only £10 you can buy a Coachcard and get cheap coach tickets with a discount of up to 30%.
